Apikektomi Shpëtim Kirurgjikal për Dhëmbët me Infeksion të Përparuar
When endodontic (root canal) treatment has not been sufficient to eliminate the infection, apicectomy offers a surgical solution to save the tooth from removal.
What is Apicalectomy?
When is it recommended?
When an infection returns after root canal treatment
Even after successful root canal treatment, sometimes the infection can return due to hidden bacterial residue or incomplete cleaning. In these cases, intervention is necessary to eliminate the infection from the tooth root and save the tooth.
When the ducts are blocked or difficult to treat
In some cases, root canals are very narrow, curved, or calcified, making them impossible to reach and clean with standard techniques. Surgical intervention is an alternative to treat these areas that are inaccessible by conventional means.
In cases of cysts or granulomas associated with the root
Undetected chronic infections can cause cysts or granulomas to form near the root tip. These structures can not only cause pain and swelling, but also affect the surrounding structures. The aim of the intervention is to remove them and restore bone health.
When the patient wants to avoid tooth extraction
Many patients prefer to keep their natural tooth instead of an artificial replacement. If root canal treatment has not been sufficient, a root canal surgery is often the most effective way to save the tooth and avoid extraction.
