Metal orthodontic appliances are traditional appliances for treating
various anomalies in children, adolescents, and adults. They consist of
metal pieces that are placed in the vestibular part of the teeth. They are
connected to each other with a special orthodontic wire and with the help of
any rubber or metal ties. The wire exerts constant pressure on the teeth
and guides them to move and settle into their correct position. The
anomalies they treat are overlapping and crooked teeth, constant snoring,
and overlapping lips. Successful orthodontic treatment eliminates many
problems and prevents further damage to dental and periodontal tissues in
cases of skeletal anomalies, it also improves the profile and proportions of
the face.
