Cysts are fluid-filled formations that may or may not originate from the teeth. Their growth is slow, but if they reach large sizes, they can lead to fractures of the surrounding bone. Cysts of dental origin can result from an infection of the tooth apex that grows uncontrollably, from roots left over from an unsuccessful extraction, from teeth erupting in children, and from teeth that are impacted in the bone. During basic radiological examinations, when the presence of a cyst is noted, it is advisable to remove it as soon as possible in order to save the tooth and the surrounding bone.
